Volta Ciclista a Catalunya

Volta Ciclista a Catalunya

from March 18 to 24, 2023

The Volta Ciclista a Cataluña is a stage cycling race that takes place in Catalonia (Spain).

It celebrated its first edition in 1911, being the oldest cycling competition in Spain and the fourth in the world, behind the Tour de France (1903), Tour of Belgium (1908) and the Tour of Italy (1909).

In 2005 he joined the newly created UCI ProTour program (since 2011 UCI WorldTour), which, in practice, places it among the 25 most important cycling competitions in the world.

Due to this catastrophic epidemic of covid-19, the “Volta” of the Centennial could not be celebrated in 2020 as planned.

This year and with a great effort on the part of the organization, it has been possible to carry out the “Volta Ciclista a Catalunya”, respecting to the maximum the covid-19 measures by the entire organization, public, volunteers, etc. How nice to see the fans with the masks on and giving each other encouragement, applause and support in this test, heir to our ancestors and who has been able to reach 100 years thanks to all.

The “Volta Ciclista a Catalunya” is the third oldest stage event in the world, behind the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. Year after year, the best cyclists in the world meet to compete in the race in Catalonia.
